The Para Sports Centre was established at Alagappa University on 06.07.2015 under the patronage of the Government of Tamil Nadu to facilitate Teaching, Coaching and Training of persons with disabilities. Vice-Chancellor Prof.S.Subbiah and Secretary for Higher Education, Government of Tamilnadu, Selvi Apurva IAS inaugurated the Centre.
Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Para Sports Centre and Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association, Chennai was signed on 06.07.2015.
Para Sports Centre takes special care and effort to train athletes with disabilities for participating in recognized State, National and International level Para Sports Competitions.

- To engage in relentless pursuit of training Para Athletes to make them represent India in international competitions and bring laurels for the country.
- To enhance knowledge, understanding and significance of sports for people with impairment/disabilities and increase their confidence level.
- To identify the disabled sports persons at the State / National / International levels and help them upscale their talents.
- To impart intense practical training to disabled sports persons and make them to take part at various level of sports events.
- To facilitate the change of perception and attitude of people towards persons with impairment and make people understand the abilities of Para Sports persons.
